Erosive Esophagitis in Pediatric Patients
The study population consisted of infants aged 6 months and 11 years who presented with esophagitis lasting 7 days or more. Esophagitis was defined as symptoms consistent with GERD at the time of enrollment.
Erosive Esophagitis in Pediatric Patients:
Erosive esophagitis occurred in 2.4% of pediatric patients who received esomeprazole for more than 10 days. Esophagitis occurred in 2.5% of pediatric patients who received esomeprazole for more than 10 days. Esomeprazole was not associated with esomeprazole use in pediatric patients.
Erosive esophagitis was not associated with esomeprazole use in pediatric patients. Patients were evaluated for esomeprazole use prior to and during treatment with esomeprazole. In this population, esomeprazole use was associated with a higher incidence of esomeprazole use in pediatric patients.
